Paul Kober’s interest in photography began over a decade ago and has grown from a casual curiosity into a focused artistic practice. Over the years, he explored many subjects—portraits, landscapes, architecture, and playful scenes with animals and musical instruments—but more recently he has turned his attention toward reining his vision in portraits, landscape, and architectural photography.
With a background as a professional jazz saxophonist, Paul brings a strong sense of rhythm, mood, and improvisation to his images. His portraits aim to reveal personality and presence, while his landscapes and architectural work emphasize line, light, and atmosphere, often highlighting the quiet drama of everyday environments.
Though earlier in his career he became known for imaginative photographs of wildlife interacting with musical instruments, Paul’s current work is more grounded in observing people and places. He approaches each portrait session, city scene, and natural vista with the
same patience and creativity that deined his earlier experiments, but now with a clearer, more mature focus on storytelling through composition, light, and subtle detail.
Paul’s photography has been featured in PHOTOSHOP Magazine and AirSpeed Magazine, and he is a recipient of the prestigious international GURU Award. One of his images was selected as the cover art for a lute composition, and his work has been exhibited at several galleries across Michigan. He has won recognition throughout the photography community and has been interviewed several times about his work, as his portfolio continues to evolve and inspire viewers with its blend of artistry, emotion, and a deep appreciation for the worlds—both human and built—around him.
